Well Decommissioning Engineer

02.2020 - Current

From 2020 to 2022

  • Assess the wells to be abandoned. Ensure wells can be abandoned with the current liftboat capabilities.
  • Work with Asset Development team and Geologist. Received all the relevant geological information to safe and successfully abandon a well complying with all rules and regulations from the Company and from the Government.
  • Work with Facility team to ensure the jackets are rebuilt to safely receive personnel for operations and remove all production lines from the wells to be abandoned.
  • Participate as one of the key players in the Bid Selection for the company to provide the Liftboat for P&A project.
  • Participate as one of the key players in the Bid Selection for the company to provide Wells Service for the P&A campaign.
  • Meet regularly with Partners and Government agencies to present the Company's plan and objectives.
  • Prepared the Definitive Abandonment Plan (Annex 2) and Cost Estimate (Annex 3) and submit to the Local Entity for review and Approval. Successfully received approval to start for the first time in Angola with the P&A campaign.

2022-2024

  • Work with Finance to prepare the Budget and AFE to submit to partners for their approval.
  • Assist the P&A Project Manager building the P&A group of Engineers to start the P&A project.
  • Finalize all the first campaign projects and receive the approval for execution.
  • Work closely with Halliburton P&A project Manager during the preparation of the P&A campaign.
  • Review all the proposals from Halliburton to maximize the P&A campaign.
  • As the Halliburton P&A contract Owner, I continue evaluating new technologies to maximize the P&A efficiency.
  • Prepared the Block 14 Kuito Subsea Wells Definitive Abandonment Plan (Annex 2) and the Cost (Annex 3) and submit for approval.
  • Received approval from Local Entity to start with the Abandonment of Kuito Subsea wells in Block 14.

2024 - Current

  • Started the Well P&A execution. Abandoned 8 wells and suspended 2 wells for future activities.
  • Continue evaluating technologies to improve the P&A project.
  • Prepared other wells for second batch of P&A campaign, and executed them.
  • Preparing the third batch of wells to be abandoned
  • Continue engaging the Local Entity and Partners to discuss the progress of P&A campaign and the plan for the future.

  • In 2018, in Kern River field, I was supervising 3 Rigs and 2 Coil Tubing units for P&A project.
  • In 2018, abandoned over 100 wells in land operations in Kern River field and re-abandoned over 20 wells in Kern River field.
  • In 2018, performed Diagnostic activities on 32 wells in Grace and Gail platforms in preparation for P&A campaign.
  • In 2019, I was supervising 2 Rigs and 2 Coil Tubing units.
  • In 2019, I abandoned over 70 wells in Coaling field, and 12 wells in Coalinga Nose.
  • I abandoned about 7 wells offshore in Grace platform.
  • Collaborate with service providers to bring new technologies for cutting lock-down pins and to pull the tubing hanger.

Well Site Representative

  • Coil Tubing Clean-out job: I was the main company WSR (Well Site Representative) on location for the Thru-Tubing Cleanout job performed on LAN-B02 well, successfully. The well was plugged full of rock and was unable to continue producing. So, we had to intervene with coil tubing and nitrogen and successfully brought well to back to production.
  • Rigless Thru-Tubing perforation on Mafumeira: As senior WSR, we successfully performed thru-tubing perforation on 4 wells and brought all of them to production on Mafumeira Centro Platform.
  • Stimulation: Pumped diesel in 3 wells with different reservoirs to increase production.
  • Wireline Fishing jobs: Performed slickline and braided line Fishing operations on couple of wells that had wires dropped in the past.

Field Drilling Engineer

  • Prepare casing and tubing tallies.
  • Prepare the POAs (procedures of attack) for different wells operation depending on current activity.
  • Perform all Engineering calculations for cement volumes and pressure, calculations for underbalance displacement, calculations for space-out, all required pressure tests volumes as per company's requirement and Government regulations
  • Lead the business partners meetings with all well services providers representatives, ensuring all relevant aspects for the operations are being covered.
  • Work directly with senior DSR to conduct the rig floor operations efficiently and safely.
  • Work directly with DTL (Drilling Team Lead) to track performance of our Rig and ensure all wellsafe requirements are being met.
  • Maintain constant contact with Luanda shore Drilling and Completion Engineers to ensure the POAs contains all the relevant steps that are in the Drilling and/or Completion programs.
